Glowspot Roaches questions

So, I have decided to get glowspot roaches (went with Lucihormetica verrucosa) as my first roach species. I've read some care guides but I still want to know other peoples experiences ect.!

What kind of enclosure do you use?
Are large critter keepers fine or can the babies escape? (I have little idea of their offspring size)
Substrate? How deep is best?
Do you keep them at room temp or heat extra?
What do you feed your glowspots?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't yet successfully bred L.verrucosa, but I have bred L.grossei, so my advice should still apply well here.

I use a 6 qt. Sterilite container with four 1/3" ventilation holes on each end for my adult pair and their babies, but when you start getting multiple adults in your group, I'd suggest something at least twice as large.

The babies can't climb, so a critter keeper would contain them. I just wouldn't recommend something like that due to the large amount of ventilation, but I suppose you could modify the lid if you really wanted to.

I use a moist mix of coconut fiber, coconut husk, cypress mulch, dead leaves, and sphagnum moss, although simpler options would likely work as well. The substrate should be at least 2 inches deep, although a few more inches would probably be preferred.

Mid 70s to low 80s fahrenheit.

I feed them the diet I feed to nearly all of my other roaches - dogfood 50% of the time and fruits/veggies the other 50%.

Also, I would highly recommend starting out with nymphs as adults seem very hard to get babies from after they have spent time in shipping based on the experiences of mine and couple friends.

Thank you!
How much ground space do they need?

I keep all my isopods in critter keepers, when I need higher moisture I just cover a large part with transparent foil and use the lid to hold the foil in place. Works like a charm ;)

No problem!

Well, like I said, a 6 qt Sterilite container would be fine for starting up a group of nymphs and that is about 5" x 10" in floorspace maybe? I think you could house a pretty good colony in a 16 qt container, which is about 10" x 12" in floorspace. They are burrowers though, so you could increase the number of individuals you could keep in a certain size container by increasing the substrate depth.

I keep mine in a medium plastic shoe box. Couple inches of cocofiber, I throw dead leaves in pretty frequently, room temp, same diet as All About Arthropods. Worth noting that for whatever reason, L. verrucosa seems to breed best when kept slightly crowded. I had my group in a larger enclosure and nothing would happen, then I switched them to the enclosure they're in now and the females started giving birth right and left.

I keep them with deep moist substrate and feed mostly leaf litter and some fruits here and there, pretty much works for me!
