Found this beauty in my shed. Its a Giant house spider (Eratigena atrica) right? PXL_20250113_022752831~2.jpg PXL_20250113_162112595~2.jpg PXL_20250113_230325863~2.jpg

As far as I know they make sheet webs with a funnel and hang out there. So I'm thinking lots of low anchor points. Any advice for making a habitat?

Another option would be Free Range, Free Predator, Free Pest Control.
{D Whatever lies ahead ...
All the best to Gorgeous Giant,

Kept hundreds of these over the years, Give them an arboreal setup no need for substrate it's you're choice though put some branches in for anchor points. Stop the branches before the top if its top opening though they tend to just go to the top of the branches and not the top of the enclosure to web up.

Thanks for the advice 😀 What about putting cork bark against 3 of the walls. Half the height of the enclosure? Might get a nice sheet web with all those anchor points and would keep her away from the top 🤔

I already have an enclosure, I'm thinking top opening seems best for this spider?

I think maybe the ideal one is wider rather than tall but my false widow keeps webbing the top of this one so I'm going to get a front opening one to move her to. Then this will be unused and nearly perfect I think? (20x20x30cm)

Yeah that will work.

Can do front opening, if you're going for top opening like this though just don't give it anchor points at the very top.
Cool I'll try with the cork going 15cm up 3 sides. Hopefully get a sheet web exactly half way up 🤞 thanks :)

What about favorite food? And should I provide water or just mist the web? Or neither?

Yeah just mist the web. I mainly use mealworms for them and tong feed until they have enough of a web going that you can drop things in, they will take any feeder you have though. Try keep them to around the same body size as the spider or less, they will easily take bigger but they end up ruining all there web in the battle.

One of Eratigena atrica/duellica/saeva. They require basically no enclosure setup, even an empty container would work (though as mentioned, some more anchor points are nice to have).
