To the OP- don’t take what we say as harsh criticism. It has less to do with you and more about our own frustrations. The issue that many of us have with the “B” word is that many people don’t understand the way it works and many individuals and companies profit off that fact. I think that many beginners get sold over priced basic bioactive BS starter kits under the assumption that there is no other way to keep their animals. The setup fails and they are left disappointed or unaware that it has failed. There are many situations where this type of setup is not practical and many where it is not. For example, I see posts over and over about people introducing spring tails into a dry enclosures and wondering why they die off. Obviously they were sold something without an understanding of how it works. All this is no reflection on you. It’s just that the premise has indeed become a trend and many people who aren’t prepared for it experience unnecessary aggravation. Selling someone on bioactive as a first enclosure with no real information is like selling someone a car who has never driven before. But just to prove that I’m not completely against it here is one of my vivariums
