As far as I remember my gbb has had all of its legs its entire life, or at least since I have had which has been for like 3 years, today I was checking on it to feed them. but when I was putting my tongs in they suddenly bolted out. At first I thought maybe my tongs got caught on the tarantulas leg and I just amputated my tarantula, however when I go to the back there is no leg or sign of bleeding. If my knowledge is correct it can’t have been missing for long since when tarantulas lose legs they normally emergency molt, I just need some advice and this is the first time dealing with an injury this serious.

No they don’t molt immediately- often not at all.

Give it extra water, leg grows back

Yours is quite plump, and def. headed for a molt at some point, no one can tell you when. Anyone who says they can is a liar.

Also, is your T's box taller than it is long? It seems that way in the pic, please confirm.

GBB isn't leaking.
GBB will adapt.
GBB should rejuvenate another leg in time.

Could of dropped it for many reasons, fell got trapped came off on the last moult as long as your t is OK no leaking just give extra water and wait for the moult.

May I suggest you get your t a terrestrial viv rather then an arboreal one, falls from that hight onto all that wood is not a good thing for your t.

I’d change your enclosure, terrestrial setup, dry sub, add cork & water dish

It will regrow with molts

So it could have lost its legs after being injured in a fall. It does look like this is a real possibility given your enclosure dimensions (yours is clearly an arboreal enclosure). If it fell and landed incorrectly on a legs it could have dropped it.

And no this is not correct, while it is possible to “emergency molt”, that’s not the normal case. They will begin regenerating it on subsequent molts at a normal frequency.
