I’ve got a gbb that’s somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8 inches (really hard to tell). I’m also somewhat uncertain about its carapace size but my guess is between .125 and .25 inches. I desperately need to rehouse it out of its sling enclosure, and wanted to check to see if a 6 x 6 inch enclosure would work? It has vent holes that are 4mm so I really wanted to confirm that’s small enough that it won’t escape. It’s one of those magnetic tarantula cribs enclosures with the little roof for a top if that helps and I’ve included a picture of the spider. Thank you!

It would be much helpful if you show a couple of photos of it’s entire enclosure it’s in currently.

Any reason why you desperately need to rehouse it?

In my honest opinion, if you really want to rehouse it, I’d suggest you to go with larger than 6x6x6” enclosure. I’d at least go double size than that. A heavy webbing tarantula such as Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens would do better in there, to show off it’s webbing skill.

Desperate might be hyperbole but as you can see it’s super cramped and I think it’s probably negatively affecting the t cause it’s very fighty and has like no where to hide. I also don’t have a very large water bowl in it and am getting tired of it attacking my dropper every time I give it water lol! Right before this molt it was a little less than an inch and had a few spots to hide that it seems unable to use now. I’m sure it can wait while I get something bigger I just wasn’t sure if that was too big and I already had this 6x6 one lying around. I’m certainly happy to give it space if it’ll use it! I’m mainly worried about the ventilation hole size.

If I were you, I’d keep it in current enclosure for another molt, or maybe two, then rehouse it later with larger, and spacious enclosure. I do not see any urgent necessary currently.

If you’re using tarantula cribs enclosure I suggest the 3x3 cube. Your sling isn’t almost 2 inches far off. Mine is the same size as yours. That if I’m not mistaken is the 2x2x3 of enclosure which is for arboreal spiderlings. 3x3x3 is perfect and also I fill mine with substrate at least halfway for a gbb and add cork and moss in it and a waterbowl. 2461D348-A1B5-4541-807D-EB75764DED57.jpeg

You can certainly rehouse it if you need, I would do so so you can have a water dish in its enclosure which I think should be in all enclosures.

I’d put a 2” GBB in a 6”x6” with plenty of anchor points to web so she feels safe. Plenty here would say that’s too big. For your question about the holes, as long as they are smaller than her carapace, which you’d have to measure side by side to be accurate. If in doubt, wait. A 4x4 or even a 4x6 would work, too, but I get wanting to use what you have. At that size, I had mine in a 4.5”x4.5”x7” (what I already had) that was definitely too long. It wasn’t until she passed 2” that she ever webbed at the long end, but she had webbed all the way up to the lid early on (I put anchor points too high).
i think that pink bit in the corner is the water dish, right?

Thanks everyone for the responses! Let me respond to some questions I’ve seen. First of all I think I got a decent measurement of the carapace and it’s a little bit bigger than 5mm maybe 6. that pink think is a water bowl, it’s a Lego. It definitely drinks from it a lot, and I do my best to keep it full every day, but it’s small and I’ve had some issues with the webbing and substrate sucking the water out of it. I actually do have a 3x3 cube which I could use for now. I think for me the big things is I’d like it to have a hide and I’d like to use these bottle cap water bowls I have so I can disturb the enclosure less. I’ve just had better luck when I give my speedier tarantulas that cause they have somewhere they can run to when I tap the enclosure and the larger bowl means I have mess with them less. But I also totally don’t want to rehouse if it’s not necessary. I got some feedback from a discord im on that it’d be good to rehouse, which is why I wanted to get more feedback here and get a better understanding of both the enclosure needs of these sling/juv cusp ts and rules for ventilation size. Thanks for everyone’s feedback. I was going to wait for it’s third feeding in a couple days before I do anything.

I can’t be bothered converting units for you

make sure holes are smaller than carapace

But you can be bothered to comment lol. Approx. 5.2 mm carapace and 2mm vents.
Yes because I provided you accurate and useful information that will enable you to figure out what you should do/know on that issue.
