I'll keep that in mind :p .
I changed the substrate to potting soil and added a few pieces of bark in a corner.
The cave entrance is also bigger, but she keeps climbing on the walls :(.
And there is no dampness at all.
I used to have the reptibark because thats what the lps recommended in my First rosies enclosure. Once I found out about wood/bark and the oils being bad for Ts I changed it out to Cocofiber but she was still hanging on the walls. I was beating my head against the desk feeling like a horrible T MOM.
It takes them a couple of days to calm down give her a couple of days without disturbing her.
IMO Most Tarantulas require an adjustment period to whatever you do to them.
Rehoming, adding decor, changing substrate, moving the enclosures 2 feet, etc.
This is why they have not made extreme home makeovers Tarantula Edition.

They may still attack the feeding tongs etc. Its all "normal ""behavior".

I am not saying T's have emotions- thats a debate for a different thread.
but..
If we were to Put ourselves in their pedipalps..
Think about it they are probably a little "freaked out" we are Goliath giants to them they have no Idea weather we are going to kill, eat, fry them or not.
They have been scooted and captured from container to container, sights, smells, humidity, temperature, and sounds have changed. The car ride home was terrifying with all the vibration. You have no Idea why you are in a container and everything is shifted, you have no Idea weather the stuff underneath you is a pool of Lava, acid, or certain death.
All you know is it has changed and You have been on a vomitus :barf:tarantula roller coaster the past several days.:barf:
Its like if a Giant shark suddenly kidnapped us put us in a deli cup tumbling us around and stabbing us with a paint brush, changing our hardwood floors to peat moss carpet, and putting a coco fiber hut in our living room without us knowing. we would have no idea whats in that hut someone popping out with a machete or a delicious pie :D Or our new Peat moss carpet is filled with worms.

Wishing you and your new T all the best! & congratulations on your new T !& welcome
The worry never goes away but it gets easier :)

by the sound of it, you have that 1/1000 mean rosies.
I would say that its alot more than just 1%, I went up to my LPS today and checked out there T's and out of three, two where really on the defensive side. It's got to the point I dont trust any G.porteri/rosea.

No need to worry at all, as i also can not grab my water dish by hand. Some roses are nice some are not. My rose seems to be very territorial of her space, right now i have her in a large cricket keeper, with no hide simply because there is no room, she is 4.5 inches. I am going to try and get her into a small aquarium and see if that helps calm her down, maybe more space will help and also a nice place to hide. Some roses just dont use hides no need to worry, just another result of not replicating their natural enviroments.

Potting soil? I hope it doesn't have fertilizer in it, most do! She's stressed, she's been moved from home to home how many times now? But if it is her personality, that's just who she is, accept her for her uniqueness.

Sounds exactly the same as my G. Rosea

When I first got her for two weeks she just clung to the glass and wouldn't even come off the glass to get her food! But now the problem is solved she hated her substrate! I can't remember what I had first off but after 3 attempts and through trial and error she eventually told me what she liked so I changed her substrate to cocoa fibre and at first I made it too damp so I took it out and changed it again and now she loves it she came down from the glass straight away but I went to fill her water bowl and she got aggressive then the problem was that she was really hungry! Hope this helps when she gets stressy and picks up an attitude problem is just her way of telling me I've either forgotten something like feeding or something is wrong!!

when i first got my G.rosea I was using cocofiber with sum moss and she use to cling to the sides alot and when I bought her she was just on cocofiber, now i just use cocofiber, now she only clings to the sides when she wants sum extra heat but i am thinking of changing her heat low wat bulb to a heat mat thats more her ground level i am not happy with her on the sides for her heat i dont want her to fall and hurt her self even though she is only an inch off her ground level.
