I recently got Haplopelma (Cyriopagopus) Sp. "Midnight Blue". Can't say much for now as I didn't rehouse it yet - the vial it arrived in seems suitable even after it molted once. Before I've considered getting some black-ish species of Chilobrachys but couldn't find any for a long time.

What I can say for sure is that it is less defensive than my first H.pulchripes - preferring to stay in the burrow at all times. Tho - from what I see now my first H.pulchripes was an oddball. The two I got now are extremely calm in comparison while the first one would often strike a threat pose the moment I took the lid off (he tended to stay outside/at the mouth of his burrow a lot and rarely bolted down when disturbed).

My H.pulchripes only tried to bolt during a rehouse, luckily it bolted straight to the catching cup. During the day she is always deep down in her burrow, during the night she is out, she is actually quite calm.

Isn't she more bitty than the other Chilobrachys?
Not really, a lot of the Chilobrachys species are similar in one way or another. Mines is a great eater and it rarely ever throws defense postures, but specimens may vary in personality.

I can only hope that mine doesn't turn into drama queen then.

Chilobrachys sp. electric blue is my pick for choice.
I got one of these as a sling at the NARBC show last month as well. Anyone want to suggest a P tigrinawesseli? That's the third sling I picked up.

So I know this is going to be unpopular, but have you considered an Orphnaecus? Uncommon, but many have a understated beauty and they all have a lot of personality. Not defensive, but mine are always out and about once the lights go out.

The OP can’t have pokies where he lives. That’s why they aren’t being suggested.

Orphnaecus
I actually did thought about that genus, but i ended up with something more appealing to me. In the future i have my eyes in, P. everetti and O. schioedtei.

Well, they arrived today both confirmed females around 3cm (body length) each , the C. hati hati was actually very calm and laid back during all the process.. the C. fimbriatus... such drama, over the top threat postures, extremely stubborn, a huge drama queen. Funny part is that neither of them tried to bolt a single time.
All in all i am quite happy with them.
