Not only just for Avicularia variegata, but of all arboreals, great dilemma is them webbing up very close to top lids. Personally I don’t mind at all, but it’s pretty inconvenient for tarantulas and for myself as well.

From this dilemma, the fun experiment was born. After rehousing for both of my Avicularia variegata, before they even try to wander around to find spots to web things up. I gently pushed / led them down to the very bottom, and while they are still at the bottom, I placed both enclosures tilted. Just to give them an idea where to start.

They might just end up web the very top, or they might end up web else where. I am hoping the latter, but as you all know, tarantulas always find ways to annoy us.

Oh yes, you can do that of course! Though my OCD won’t allow me, and I rather still prefer top lid opening. :troll:
I was 99% sure that is why you don't have inverted.

I have 2 variegata as well. PM me and let me know who yours came from. I'm wondering if they are related.

I got them to stop doing this by just making sure that the top of the bark and any anchor points aren't right up by the lid.

My I. hirsutum was pretty stubborn about it and still insisted on webbing the lid but eventually got everything positioned in such a way that he opted to construct a web tube behind his bark piece instead.
