Freebies. Like em or hate em tell me why! Do you think they're good practice?

Love freebies. They can be strange though, as my last order I grabbed some Brachypelma species and they threw a H. gigas in there for my freebie. Very unexpected 🤣

If it’s free, it’s for me.

If it weren’t for freebies I would never have owned a dwarf tarantula, ever. When I’m shopping I really never even look at them, but I’ve gotten Hapalopus sp. Columbia large and Kochiana brunnipes for free and have thoroughly enjoyed them, however I never would have paid for them.
Other freebies I’ve received over the years:
T. albopilosus
A. chalchodes
B. Smithi
Not many, but I’m happy with what I’ve gotten.
Whether it’s a good practice or not, well, it helps get people hooked so I understand it from a seller perspective, but if I got something I have no interest in keeping (large OW arboreals, any kind of fossorial) I’d be somewhat disappointed and stuck with something I might not enjoy. The flip side to that is I might love them and a whole new door is opened to me.
