If they do so,the seedlings become chimeras themselves-and the adult chimeras appear to breed true.
Hybrids turn up less often.
As far as I know,mine only occurred when my chimeracised Impatiens plants produced two kinds of pollen-and cross-fertilized their species eggcells.
And then some HYBRIDS turned out to be CHIMERAS...as well as being hybridized.
