:? I'm thinking of geting a fogger, yet i have heard mixed reviews to their use with Scorps. Some  NO its bad and can stress them due the their sensative senses being bases around the unltra sonic region. Others say:clap: yes and the Scorps apear to enjoy it. Has anyone got some experiance with useing foggers with Scorps, if so how and when to use them. I would only intend to use it once or twice a week for misting.

I've found that foggers look good but you really must be careful. I've actually rigged an L shaped peice of pvc with some grate at the end. This allows the spout to break surface and spill fog through the side without the worry of any animals coming in contact with the spout.

Would you post some pictures about this little trick please..?

Most foggers on the market burn out. I have owned several. They are not for long term use. I bought a small humidifier and hooked a hose to it, I also have it on a timer 3 x a day for my emperors they love it it keeps the humidity just right and its less bothersome. I would spend the $$$ on a humidifier than a fogger. It actually ran me cheaper with the humidifier.

I have a fogger in my tank. From what I have seen my scorpion does not react to the fogger being on in any way until a drop of water falls on him. Now I only plug the fogger in once and a while when I think the humidity is getting a little lower than I want.

I have a critter cage which has the screen top that locks. This is what the pet store sold me as part of my setup...however I went and purchased one of the byfolding glass tops with rubber backplane and handle on front panel. This was to fit my 10 gal tank. It works great and the humidity has stayed consistantly high with the new top...the screen top was not at all good for the humidity levels

The fogger that I purchased has a replacement element available for purchase that doesnt really cost that much...I figure it should last quite a while with only plugging in as needed. Active spraying with a bottle sprayer is good but involves to much opening of the cage and all for my taste. I looked at misters as an option too but like the fog effect more.

Juliancito-

The above note explains the problems in establishing sustainable RH in captive environments. In the end, the best environment for mesic and hygrophilic species would be to provide sustainable RH levels with moderate to high airflow. The question now is - how important is RH to captive invertebrates and is it necessary to their health and well being in captivity?

when i was at the hospital i seen this person inhaling smoke from a gadget. my sister told me that the gadget was a nebulizer. just thinking about it or visualize, we can make a mist out of this nebulizer for our scorpion tank. just some modifications needed.

Im sure it's necessary for some species, but im also agree, to the fact that air flow it's also vital for a healtier enviroment.

So, now maybe another cuestion it could be, whats the best RH/AIRFLOW range or proportion, so youll be able to stablish a good, and healtier balance betwen the two factors, depending on your invertebrate species ?

And...I think that this is the time when the LEARNING PROCESS takes it's place...:)

we use nebulizers at home for allergy problems (wife and kids use it). its rather expensive device and works similar to a humidifier.

go with a mister or humidifier

I allso prefer to mist my scorpions. Gives me abit more controll than a dile. But it's up to you. Just be carefull in your choice of fog maschine.

Best of luck.

Reading all this, the overall advantage of using a fogger is to keep it nice and damp? It doensn't increase temperature, it just adds a little humidity?

I have a few thanks that dry op like snow in the sun. Can't keep the darn thinks humid  Maybe this is because they're too small... Going to buy larger ones anyways in two weeks but placing a fogger sounds good!!!

One more question, what's the power source??

most foggers run with a 12 volt power pac. if you are goin the fogger route i would suggest getting a waterfall type thing because these little babies go through water quick......... i too will soon be supplementing a exoterra waterfall into my enclosure

use a drip system so it doesnt run out of water. it will cut down on you checking on the water level every day. I like my humidifier, its pretty much hassel free. I fill it 1x a wk and i have it on a timer. If you get the warm mist, it will heat up the tank a lil. cold humidifier doesn't heat up the tank, and it looks great!

Well i finally did it, whent out and got a fogger, Not overly impressed! yes it looks good and the effect looks good. My Emps do seem to like it, they come out to the mouth of there burows, and when its off, they come for a walk round. Probably more natural than misting, and does prove good air flow, you can see the air flow in your tank, encoraging to know my airflow is a great deal better than i thought. But its effects are very short lived to get the same effect from misting i would need to run it every day for a couple of hours. I have reverted to misting! So i have a fogger going should anyone want it (UK only).
