Fixing mesh lid for Exo terra terrarium?

Hi everyone! I have my L. Parahybana in a medium low exo terra terrarium and most of the times she just likes to hang out on top of her hide. Yesterday however I found her climbing on the mesh lid and it seemed as if she was almost getting stuck in it. Any suggestions on how to fix the lid without limiting the airflow?

I heard it can be substituted with plexiglass but it seems a bit complicated... any simpler ideas?

Thanks!

I've not tried it but I've seen people on here use clear packing tape around the edges.

If you have access to a saw and a drill the plexiglass is pretty easy to do.

Good luck.

If you take the measurements you need then you can either order some acrylic cut to size or buy some and get it cut to size at a hardware store.
Drilling the holes is easy, just place it on top of a piece of wood so that it doesn't crack/shatter when you drill through, go high rpm and with very little pressure (just let the drill bit do the work).
You don't need to remove the mesh, you could just fix the acrylic to the underside of the lid so that it covers the mesh, use aquarium silicone or epoxy resin/putty to fix it into place, either should cure pretty quickly.

I use an Exo Terra for my A. avicularia and I also wanted to do something about the mesh. I don't ever see other people doing this, but it has worked great for me for nearly a year now.

I just affixed some pieces of cork bark to the screen with some thick gauge wire. This way I still get ventilation through small cracks between the bark, but the T doesn't reach the screen.

That's an interesting fix.

I just covered the mesh with a loosely draped sheet of cotton to discourage them from climbing up there. So far, it has worked pretty well. (A few times, I have seen them take a tentative step onto the cotton sheet, but they seem to realize that their footing is not secure and stop.)

I cut out a square of plastic from a plastic box, made holes in it with dremel, then hotglued it over the mesh on the top from inside.

I have used disposable cake toppers for a cheap source of clear plastic and since it doesn’t have to bear any weight on the top it doesn’t have to be terribly thick. You could probably just poke holes in it with a pencil, and it is good enough to keep your t away from the screen . Hot glue works great and is non-toxic and quick.
