Just arrived Thursday and I moved her/him to a small enclosure. It was wandering around and checking out the enclosure; found a spot and started to web but not it is just sitting there in the web. I've had adult T's in the past but never a sling. I'm wondering if I did something incorrectly. Room is comfortable, shallow water dish and misting provided. I don't want to stress it out by constantly poking at it to make sure it's alive. Any advice is welcome. Thankx

when you have a question let us know ;)
No misting- tarantulas are NOT plants, great way to kill Avics

Sounds fine, don’t worry about it.

Post pics if you’re concerned

IMO this species is a terrible choice for a first sling....poor eaters, very slow growers and more sensitive to housing than any species on the planet.....in 30 yrs, this is the only species that gives me trouble, and still does....by far the single most over-rated Avic.

I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

I know I literally only have one data point, but this surprises me. Mine had no trouble -- and no hesitation -- taking down a cricket practically her own size as a sling.

I had significantly more difficulty getting my Y. diversipes sling to eat, and actually the worst eater of my bunch was the P. ecclesiasticus until this last molt when it probably hit about 1.5". Clearly I live in some backwards land when the A. purpurea was a better eater as a .75" sling than the psalmo...

I must've gotten the one A. purpurea out there with an 18 constitution lol.
