First Post! Scolopendra Sp. Mint Legs

Hey everyone! This is my first post as an arachnoboards member! I've been reading tons of threads for years on this website learning and enjoying all the information and content on this website! So I may as well formally join the community! This is my Scolopendra Sp. Mint Legs "Dabi" that I received two weeks ago! No clue as to the sex, it's about 6 1/2 inches long and spends most of the time hidden under it's cork. I've managed to get some good video and pics (for an iPhone 6s Camera) while it's feeding! I've been keeping mantids for awhile and finally got into pedes this past summer! I started out with a Scolopendra Heros arizonensis named "Ryuk" who I'll post in a separate thread. Now I have my new mint legs and a hemiscolopendra marginata I caught roaming around my room at night and scared the heck out of me, as on first glance I thought it was my heros lol! Any care tips for the mint legs would be appreciated, as I've read all the threads on here and have taken note to keep it a little "cooler" and with high humidity. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Thank you! And yes I am a big fan of your mint legs and so far i've grown very fond of this one when he's not trying to escape. I have a video of it trying to chew through its cage, while I knew it "couldn't" it was still unsettling nonetheless.

Just wait until you stat hearing your stuff trying to escape in the middle of the night. One of the most unsettling things that an invertebrate keeper can encounter with the ears I think. I regularly have to get up and check with a flashlight to make whatever-it-is hasn't chewed through the enclosure, ha ha (I know better of course, but I always think I might have left a lid slightly loose; better safe then sorry).

Congrats on your new addition! I love the look of the mint legs, don’t have one yet. I have 6 cage clips on my dehanni’s cage, and the first night I brought it home I had trouble sleeping, have been fine since then as it mostly just sleeps in it’s lair. What’s really fun is to set up a webcam with night vision and record it hunting, dang they are fast! Best wishes!

Thank you! Haha yeah my cage is pretty secure and I've made sure to take good precautions, but I'd be lying if I said it still isn't a little unnerving to see it try to scale the walls of it's enclosure. And thats a cool idea! I might have to try the night web cam idea out!
