finally got in some Spinifers. 22 mixed sized babies from like 1.5"-2" in size. as well as an unrelated proven adult female i just couldnt pass up an adult for sale! holy cow! they are so tiny!!!

so active! so teenie. so defensive i had one who rushed me and tried to eat my 12in tongs while i was unburrying its siblings from the moss. haha too cute.. im keeping them in groups of 11 in a 6qt box for the night. with holes dug just so they can calm down. i thought theyd be a litter bigger to go into the containers i bought. might let them into the 50g breeder when i get off work. the mom seemed happy in her 6qt with a coconut hide[coudlnt get her to move and im scared of harming them]

but i might just pull out one of my 10g's for the adult and let babies run free in the 50g. was going to use dif totes for the babies but theyr big enough to trio them into the tubs and some holes may let some out so had to improvise.

50g has hiding spots some live plants and bout ~8in of sub which seems like alot for babies. id also probably have to remove the water dish or add even more rocks? what do you guys think? :) keep them where they are [all in 5qt]? let them in the giant 50g tank[36*18*18] let the adult [unrelated] in the 50 to be her scorpy self? throw bedding in a 10g for her? i didnt know what to expect lol..

its a LOOOONG story. but got more then i planned. lol ill try to upload pics in a few but tapatalks been being weird.. ill give it a shot tho :)

That's a lot hehe. 50g is waaay too big for them now. They might find it hard to capture prey. Not to mention that its gonna be a pain to monitor them all in that space. Maybe level it down for now like a 15-20gal?! The adult is okay with herself in that 10g already.

thats what i was kinda thinking XC was hoping to use prekilled roaches and tong feed each one XD [high hopes no?] just 10g seems small for all them. 20long looks too big. 20 talls arnt much dif from a 10.urg lol.XD i dont wana drag out the 20long or the 20tall XC[can but both kinda need cleaned] ... female was going to be in the 10. tho was going to get a few more adults and put them all in 50 but yea.. got more then i ordered well just leave it at that lmao.. ig i can divide the babies into the trios or grab a few more of my 6qt and use groups of 5/6? :p

you think getting this many funny you should of seen me to scared of hurting them with my tongs [only seen adult p.imporator in person so expected a much bigger size on the 2inchers] and using a spoon to move them from the containers -.- was like trying to stab that last pea with your fork.. only the pea is frozen solid XD

update. got the tubs like i said i would [4.5cup ones in link] and rehoused almost half ,might help if i drilled the right amount lol, so 10 are still in one of the totes. some seem to like the bigger tote better but didnt feel right so many in such a closed space. ill try them in this for a few days then try and feed all a lil prekilled dubia.. if not ig ill put them in groups of the 5/6 like i said and see how that goes..thatl mean i have some ventalated cups for no reason -.- lol future T's ig lol

I would give them live prey so they learn to hunt. Also, try not to constantly be moving and rehousing them so they aren't stressed. They need time to settle in.

.

well lets put it this way i ordered 1/4 of what i got so i wasnt ready. lol they went from the shipping container into a holding ben to be counted to the 6qt for 24hrs now in their homes for a molt or 2.so a few moves and ik was stresfull but as said.. i ordered 1/4th of them o.0... i did feed them live tho just a little bit ago. only reason i was going to feed prekilled is i have no clue how close any are to a molt. and dubias [which i primarily have on hand and all 3 lps only have in large crix] burrow. 2 or 3 did grab them from the stats but the rest i will wait till this afternoon and remove if not eaten.

Thats a lot of scorpions. Just wondering, how much did all that cost? I am assuming that the babies are captive bred, or at least captive born?

I had a group of about a dozen P. imp. at that same size, I kept them for about 6 months before selling the lot of them but when I had them, I kept them in a 4"x4x8" acrylic box with substrate, water dish, and tons of hides. They seemed to do pretty well, but if you don't keep them well fed they might eat each other (at least mine seemed to). I know that P. imp juveniles have better survivorship when kept as a family unit, but I am not certain if that also applies to H. spinifer.

Well as stated i technicall i disnt order all. But i have about $110 worthin scorplings. The babies are captive bred adults wild cought(shows it too lol)

I have them seperates indevidualy into 6x4x3 containers (with 2 in eco) so i knew noone was canabalized and so everyone gets fed. Iv fed them bout 3 times now and they eat it just dont like me seeing lol many times iv sat down n used back light watching one eat (if i dont they run n hide)

Amazing little buggers x3
