I found a good deal on a Vivitar Vivicam 3675 yesterday, so I snapped it right up-now I can take some pics of my T's! I'm still just sorta playing around with it, but here are a few shots of some of my eight-legged "babies".

First up, a pic of a large female(five inches plus)Grammostola rosea (?) I got at a reptile show. I put a question mark because I'm not really sure that's what she is, since her carapace is actually much darker than it appears in the pic, almost black, and I've never seen a G. rosea with a black carapace. She can also be quite aggressive.

Second, my dear, fat Grammostola aureostriata girl, one of my personal faves. Boy does she love to eat!

Next, a "Mystery Aphonopelma " female from near the Mexican border in New Mexico. This little T is just the size of a fifty cent piece, with legs outstretched, though she is at LEAST eight years old and NOT a picky eater, obviously! Very sweet little girl, but I have no idea what she is. She is wild-caught, by the way.

OK, I got the file numbers mixed up, since obviously the second one is NOT the G. aureostriata-she's the last one! OOPs!

very nice pics .

love the chaco gold stripe(G.auriostriata)

that first on is 100% G.rosea. the colour intensity varies alot through individuals.

could also have been a while since she last shed and may be more colourfulll when she does. :)

Well, I'm guessing it's either going to be taking some pics of the new little strawberry blonde you sent me, or some of that last Corn Snake I found on the road! I'll try to get some of the little lady later on tonight, but the Corn is in deep shed right now, and not exactly looking his best, but good things come to those who wait, so if patience holds out, I promise there are few things as stunningly beautiful as a freshly-shed Corn Snake!

You read my mind...especially on the strawberry blonde! I've never sent a T out and then seen it on the computer two days later...I'm planning on that being a very surreal experience! Thanks!

Digital Cameras...

I was going to ask you tarantulaologists what kind of camera you use to take clear pix of our T's. I went to Best Buy the other day to look at digital cameras. I told them what I wanted to do and they pulled out this $1300.00 camera. Umm... I am not taking pix for National Geographic man. I just want a good digital camera to use so I can post pix of my slings for all my colleagues. What kind of cameras are you using? I did find a Nikon with zoom that was around $240.00 that I liked.
I would like your advice on which one to buy, as I am camera illiterate. :?

Greg, I'm using a Canon Pwer shot S50 that I got on sale a couple years back for $500. I know the Nikon you're talking about and it's a good camera. This one does way more than I'll ever use. Just make sure in any camera you get a macro option on it. That's what you'll be taking alot of your T pics on.

Nikon with macro...

Hey Wayne!
Thanks for the tip. This Nikon I liked does have macro, there is a little flower mark to indicate when to use this function for close-up. For slings.
I have so many gorgeous slings but my old 35mm won't cut it.
I will head over there again and look at that one again. This way I can forget putting film on floppy picture discs and forget about film altogether.
Memory stick... What kind of memory stick should I get?
Teach me and then I can post pix of my slings for everyone to see! :)

The one I took the above pics with is a Vivitar ViviCam 3765. I bought it at Wal-Mart for a whopping one hundred bucks. It's a good little camera, and it does have a Macro function for taking pics of small things like T's or hatchling snakes. I think it shows the colors pretty good, which many cameras don't. It does eat up batteries, though, so I went out and bought an AC adapter today, since many of my pic subjects will be indoors, anyway, and a battery recharger with some heavy-duty batteries made just for digital cameras.
