Hey all,
Haven't been around in a while. Hi.
I have a new A. geniculata that i'm very excited about, named Backup. Long story. Anyway, he/she is far smaller than Peso was when I first got him. It's about 1/3", and I'm not used to such a small s'ling. i've tried cricket legs, but it's hard to tell if it gets eaten or not. sometimes it seems like portions of the leg may have been eaten, but it's really hard to tell. I know Backup is supposed to have a voracious apetite, but I can't tell if he's eating.
Suggestions on alternate feeders, or a way to ensure he's eating?
Thanks all,
Paul

Do you have any exotic petstores near by? Maybe they sell pinheads or one week crickets. I would just buy alot and freeze them. IME, t's don't mind if their prey is living or not.

If you can't find those, then just buy small crickets, put them in the freezer, and then when you are ready to feed, just cut them into sharp pieces with a sharp knife and then then toss them in with your t's.

You might also cinsider using tiny pieces of beef heart.

I personally don't see any value of using a cricket leg.

Try some termites or feeder roach nymphs... But you shouldn't have too much to worry about as long as it rear end is looking plump and round.

Im not always able to get my hands on pin heads for my slings, so i will buy large crickets and either dice them up or crush there heads depending on the size of the spider to throw in there, a spider 1/3 i would dice it up into 3 pieces

Just pinch the head of a small cricket. I have been feeding my slings those since they were really little and they are sll doing fine with them. Pinch the head to kill it and keep it from biting on your sling.

I feed my very small slings any size cricket available.Just rip off jumping legs and head and give a slight squish to get the juices flowing and drop it in.I find that if it's a medium size cricket the sling will eat until it's quite full and plump which cuts down on having to feed so frequently.A well fed, plump sling can go quite a while between feedings....peace..

Have you tried Pets inc on Mill Ave? they have pins! I also Crush the heads when i dont have pins and feed them to my slings.

Recently i just ordered 500 crix for 14 bucks which was a deal because it included shipping. Usually at the petstore the crix are a dozen a dollar. :D

petco in las vegas has started selling wingless fruitflies. they come in a plastic container and are really small. 5 or 6 of these would be a good meal.

I get meal worms from the local bait shop, cut them into 4 pieces and drop some in for the little ones. They are nice and juicy and the slings jump on them right away. OH, and they don't stink like cricket pieces do. Thats always a bonus!
