I am thinking about aquiring a couple of emperor scorpions. I work offshore on a 7 and 7 schedule, home a week and gone a week. the tarantulas that I keep are well fed before I leave and again after I return home and once a week feeding for the T's works out nicely. my question is can you feed emperor scorpions on this schedule? I've read articles that say feed every day, another article will say feed every other day and one that say's feed weekly. I would like to have these scorpions but will not aquire any if I can't feed them properly. can anyone help me with this?

You only need to feed them once a week but most will eat more if given the chance.

I had an emp that would eat once a month. So, sure you can do it, no problem. Though make sure you give them plenty of water!

With a well fed adult emperor a 7 and 7 week schedule wouldn't be a big problem even. Feeding every day or every other day is complete overkill. If the back plates are starting to seperate it's good time to stop the feeding. Anything more is over-feeding imo.

I water the T's with a pint fruit jar screwed onto a chick waterer base with a couple of pebbles added to the cup so the crickets won't drown. I plan on giving the scorpions water this way also. it fills itself when the water level drops. I understand these scorpions need high humidity also.

Exactly why I love these animals. My current residence is a temporary one, and my girlfriend lives about 45 minutes away...I am pretty much guaranteed to be with her at least Fri-Mon. Hell, I just got done spending 9 days straight with her except for maybe 12 hours.

My emps have pretty much scheduled themselves: I fed them till they were full, and then I just forgot about them. I check to make sure they have water and that the humidity is right, but other than that, I don't mess with them. I've noticed that they will let me know when they want food: they come out from their burrows and "forage" a lot. When they do that, I go buy 10 crickets for each of them and they usually eat them all in a few days...and then I forget about them again. I feed them like this once every two weeks or so...

So yeah....no problem...
