I haven't seen much on the boards at all about this cool little guy. Ravine Trapdoor spider, Cyclocosmia truncata. Some of you may remember my post about 6 months ago when I first got mine. It took him a couple months to get comfortable, but now he eats just as often as anyone else. Feeding him is fun, very different from a T - so I thought I would compile and share.

Hope you enjoy! :)

Note: I tried regular soil from our yard, where he's from, and it just wasn't workign well for him. So I used regular T substrate and he immediately took to it and flourished. I treat him like a normal average T, water dish, mid temps, etc. :)

I remember this little fella! This is the one where I was surprised and impressed that you managed to find a female trapdoor spider in the wild. Absolutely amazing animal, and I very much enjoy the video compilation.

I wish I could tell the gender, I believe we assumed it was female but I can't remember how we came to that conclusion, the reason I wonder if it is a male is because it was out wandering which I believe the males do to look for mates. But it was also after a very heavy rain which would flood any gender out of their burrow. So, feed and feed and feed I will do until a molts appears I suppose!

Thank you for the kind words :) I hope that my videos are beneficial to the forums. I do a large amount of monitoring and personal research and like to share when I can.

It doesn't have embolli on the palps, and the build is chunkier than I would expect for a male.
