Also anything in the Heteropoda genus (especially non-davidbowies). They are so interesting; very fast but some of the coolest spiders I've personally kept. Here's my davidbowie PicsArt_04-03-10.07.01.jpg

I'm cuckoo for Kukulcania hibernalis. They live as long as many tarantulas (10+ years for females), and the mothers allow their slings to live with them for a few weeks, sometimes even sharing their kills.

I totally agree with you! I got my girl as an adult and had her for 5 whole years before she passed of old age. It was always a real treat to see her venture out and cover her prey in webbing before dragging it down her hole. Their longevity, size, and ease of care made them an instant favorite for me.

Mine were gravid when I found them in 2013-2014 and are still going strong.

YES!!! E2FCFE2B-E15B-48E4-977F-E8AB75B302A0.jpeg Kukulcania Hibernailis! We had two females living in our windows for 5+ years. Never could figure out how to capture safely, so left them there. The younger, Ella, was killed in a wasp fight last March. I cried. We think she was a daughter of Betty, the magnificent and huge momma that’s been in the window for at least 6 years. Really cool story…we had roofing done this year and I think the vibration scared her. She literally walked RIGHT UP to us, across the floor, and we got her a sweet terrarium. I watched her mate and have babies in the window this past summer (yay, WFH!!). Here’s her new digs. <3 she is MAGNIFICENT.

Anamidae as an entire family is another group down here that doesn't get much love, despite them being some of the largest, shiniest and most colourful non-tarantula mygalomorphs in our country.

Heteropoda as a whole don’t get nearly enough love in the hobby, but if I had to choose a species that was truly underrated I’d say Boiei. The awesome size and colors make it a shame they aren’t as prevalent in the hobby as they should be.

Aytpus. A family of amazing Mygalomorphs that make incredible retreats. I think they should be widely available and appreciated.
