Last year I took my son to 'deathco' to pick out his first tarantula. They had just gotten a new shipment of G.roseas in and I was inspecting them right out of the deli cups before they were put in their enclosures on the floor. I opened one and the large female inside stormed out onto my hand. I wasn't expecting that, as it had been my experience that most T's need to be coaxed out after having been shipped.
Anyway, she hastily climbed out onto my hand and began to loose her balance and grabbed my index finger with her fangs - it happened very quickly and I didn't even realize that's what was going on at the time - let's just say I felt my heart stop, broke out in a cold sweat and just about had to change my shorts!
My G. rosea did that the other day. I saw the chelicerea spread apart, and the fangs come out, and thought oh crap, she's going to bite me. She just sat them there a bit, and didn't actually bite. They went in a tiny bit though but I doubt it intended to bite.
