Neat pic! A lot of my T's do that, especially the bigger ones. They use their fangs like a parrot uses its beak for climbing and "stablizing" their position, though it can be a tad unnerving at first!

I've experienced that before too from several species. And scorpions use their tail and stinger to push themselves around without trying to sting.

This is one of the many reasons I don't handle the vast majority of my spiders lol.

Once I saw my 3.75in rosie contemplating this, when she was doing a steep climb up my arm one day,the fangs did not come out, but the chelicerae just barely began to spread . Like she was thinking "what if I start to slip". I have also seen pics of a big fat rosie using her fangs just like your T was, so she wouldn't slip off a guys hand. I hope I can remain as calm when my T gets bigger and does that.

i had a similar experience with my 6'' rosea. i had one of my friends over and i got it out. i had just finished telling him that the T had never tried to bite me and when i looked down at my arm i saw the two fangs sitting on my wrist.
it startled me so i dumped him on a pillow. at the the time i didn't know what had happened and was scared but if it happens again i think i want to get a pictture of it too.

I can think of a good caption for that pic "How much do you trust your T?"
But seriously having a T sit like that and not being worried about it munching your own "pinkies" deserves a  and :worship:

If the fangs would have pierced the skin I seriously doubt any venom would have been injected. Tarantulas normally save their venom for more important things, like eating and defending themselves.
