Alright the moment you all been waiting for....or the moment some of you been waiting for :p

I have choosen two names! I have choosen the name Haze for the tan one and Rogue for the one with black spots.

Why those two names? Me and my friend had gotten frustrated with not having them named and I finally told my friend that we got to think of something. So we revised the names you all have suggested and thought it through. Don't get me wrong all of the names you guys suggested very good names, I just was looking for short and easy to remember when it came down to it. My friend and I use to play World Of Warcraft and he decided that Rogue was a good name for one because of the Arrow symbol on the black spotted one, since Rogues in the game use bows and bows shoot arrows. For the Tan one Haze because we were just throwing names around and that one caught my interest.

Thank You all for the replies, :)

Eric

Sorry to bring a dead thread back to life but... Recently I bought two new Fancy rats both which are males. One of them is entirely black exept for a white patch on its stomach and the other is an exact copy of the one I have with tan spots but smaller. Both of them are babies which are about 4-5 inches long. I was reading about rats recently when I read your suppose to quarantine new rats from the old ones  . Anyways I had already had there cages side by side so its too late to quarantine the two babies.... It has been about five or six days since I got the baby rats and all seems to be fine with both the other two I keep and the babies themselves... Anyways I was just wondering... If the babies were going to pass anything to the others what could I do about it? When will symptoms show? Can most things transmitted be cured?

I'll be sure to post pictures of the new rats

Eric

Edit* Oh No! One of the baby rats just sneezed on me!

I love the names of your first two! And the new ones are soooo cute! To answer your question - no not all the rat diseases are curable. Chances are they don't have anything too serious, but there are quite a few diseases so I always quarantine. Watch for sneezing (alot of it), nose/eye discharge (usually red), lethargy, hair standing on end, making them look like a poofball. All are not good signs. If everyone is still healthy after 3 weeks chances are they will stay that way - unless you bring a nasty home on your clothes/skin from a pet store. I try to avoid pet stores that have rats for just that reason. That and I can never resist and end up bringing more home! Good luck with them, they're adorable!
