Anyone ever had a .5” sling fall from 2-3 feet? Do they die immediately on impact?
It depends how the spider lands. You’ll know if it doesn’t make it🥲.Anyone ever had a .5” sling fall from 2-3 feet? Do they die immediately on impact?
It’s doing fine no fluid leaking or nothing. I was not handling it. I opened the lid and it flew out tbh. I put it back in the vial and it was climbing againIt depends how the spider lands. You’ll know if it doesn’t make it🥲.
No I try not to handle themDid you drop your Seladonia sling while handling it?
Days? Weeks? Or right awayIt depends how the spider lands. You’ll know if it doesn’t make it🥲.
A few days , right away if it’s dead. I accidentally lost a sling from a similar fall once , and another time my cat killed a sling not on purpose. So I’ve lost two to falls.Days? Weeks? Or right away
My buddy said he dropped his at 5 feet and it survived. I’m hoping mine does tooA few days , right away if it’s dead. I accidentally lost a sling from a similar fall once , and another time my cat killed a sling not on purpose. So I’ve lost two to falls.
Best of luckMy buddy said he dropped his at 5 feet and it survived. I’m hoping mine does too
Thanks! Im hoping it’s fine. I guess I’ll find out in a month if anything….Best of luck
one of mine that died fell 8 feet the other 4. And I was so depressed .
Not alwaysAnyone ever had a .5” sling fall from 2-3 feet? Do they die immediately on impact?
Tbh that’s what my buddy said the bigger the T the bigger the chance.A .5" sling ought to be able to fall from an airplane onto concrete like a feather I would think, but a fat terrestrial might get hurt I guess... I wouldn't worry or take it out again lol
Depends on the species really, I'm biased because most of the tiny slings I get are arboreals and fluffy, if I get slow growers they're usually over an inch and can get hurt then. Big difference in mass between a half inch and an inch, like 4XTbh that’s what my buddy said the bigger the T the bigger the chance.
Well it’s doing fine tbh. Acting normal. Ntn out the ordinary.Depends on the species really, I'm biased because most of the tiny slings I get are arboreals and fluffy, if I get slow growers they're usually over an inch and can get hurt then. I've usually only heard of Ts with larger abdomens dying from falls like you explained. I had a Brachypelma Smithi×Anitha that died that way, she fell from about that actually and was about 3/4 inches but I have heard that slings for some reason have better success rate of surviving falls. I also do agree completely with bird on fire, it can take time to see the damage done. Best wishes to your T. Seladonia.Anyone ever had a .5” sling fall from 2-3 feet? Not always
thank uAnother factor to consider is if the sling jumped or if it lost footing/was dropped. I've had an arboreal T jump from 4-5 feet and turn out fine.
Im assuming Probably the container 🫙 his sling was housed in. Deli cup/vial etc . Op can respond when he comes back to how he dropped the spider. I don’t have any tiny slings right now my smallest is 1.5-2”. I can attest they are easy to drop.Wonder what he dropped then
