I was wondering if anybody knew anything about t eye shine? Is it more prominent in certain t's than it is in others? The reason im asking is i have a B. verdezi. His eyes shine like those of a deer in headlights. Of the 24 that i own his are the brightest. Some i've noticed dont seem to have it at all. Heres a pic i know its kinda crappy but you can clearly see eyes shining back at u. Any help would be awesome.

My L,parahybana's/Klugi's have very bright eye shine, so does my OBT, P,regalis and trapdoors, G,Rosea, except my other true spiders like, S,blackwalli/false widow and zebra jumper sp, but when my zebra gets larger will gain eye shine, spiders as blind as they are (see an inch or so) in front but do have excellent stability all around them.

I know wolf spiders have it. I'm not sure if it's due to the tapetum lucidum or if this structure in the eye is different for spiders? (It reflects light back through the retina and enhances vision.)

I see eyeshine in my B. smithi when I use the little pointer to check it out, but not on my GBB. I'd love an answer, too.

I have no idea what you mean? T's eyes are not on the underside of of the carapace or where the leg begins, T's eyes are placed on top (front) of it's carapace just like our eyes are places in the middle (between forehead/nose) of our skull/face, as T's eyes are on top as the forehead/fangs are below.

Eye shine is due to that specialized tissue found in nocturnal animals for obvious reasons.

any ideas as to why certain genus' seem to to be brighter than others? Why some don't seem to have it at all. Anything besides for the obvious reason ie bigger t has bigger eyes=brighter shine?

lol good pic :) . Is that a female LP?
Nope, that's a 4" female B. albopilosum - aka, the mini-Lp!

I actually took this photo about 2 weeks ago. Glad to have a place to post it!
