I don't believe that a wet molt is actually caused by a wet environment. I believe that the term refers to an exo that didn't form and harden properly.
So I'd like to think that this can be attributed to a wet enviornment? Because I would think if the enviornment were too wet it would have a difficult time hardening in there being an arid species. Just my two cents because I feel your statement was a contradiction in itself.

I was thinking that a wet molt is a biological problem rather then environmental. I'm not sure if I'm translating my thoughts clearly into words. My apologies if they aren't making sense.

A wet molt occurs when the exoskeleton underneath fails to form, yet the tarantula still attempts to get free, resulting in the spider sometimes literally shearing themselves apart. It has nothing to do with the environment, as my A. avicularia died due to a wet molt (made a thread about it) and she had to be cut from the exo, only to find her limbs bent and mangled, and her abdomen shriveled and just... Wrong looking.

On a note, I don't believe that a wet molt is actually caused by a wet environment. I believe that the term refers to an exo that didn't form and harden properly.
I've not had a wet molt but from my understanding, this is true.

I don't think moist towels will help prevent the exo from hardening though. If this were the case, tarantulas that molted in rainy/high humidity environments would have a rough life. I've not looked any of this up so it's just my thinking on the matter.
