Bad expectation vs. reality: P. sazimai. I don’t want to cut mine up too bad because she is a good eater and I do really enjoy her but, yeah, they’re only blue for like 15 minutes after a molt. Very neat spider, but not quite as advertised.
The colors on the P. sazimai at my mum's seems to vary depending on lighting. When the sun streams in and illuminates the area near the enclosure shelf, yep, she's blue. Also when the P. sazimai was older, my mum had her housed in a tank with a decorative light fixture nearby in the room. There was a year or two when she replaced the bulb in that lamp with who knows what, but the T was majestically blue whenever it was on. After the bulb was replaced with an LED one, the T looked drab all over again.

Yeah my oldest t a supposed Pamphobeteus sp. platyomma looks brown or almost burgundy when there’s no lighting or camera flash . Then looks way different with flash on , it used to be pinker colored . It’s very weird haha , every spider I have looks better with good lighting. Guess that’s how they blend in the wild , look like fauna practically and blue without lights on can look black.

Expectation:
  • This H. gigas will be an unpredictable and murderous Jack-in-the-box out for my blood and I will need to be ready for the worst even at feedings, and take extra precautions at rehousings.
Reality:
  • This T. albopilosus will be the death of me and I fear for my life any time I open the container. No one knows what it's capable of. I believe it plans to kidnap my firstborn.
