i actually got to see one of these at the reptile show yesterday. id been planning on getting one for my suntiger when it gets bigger. would the 'smallest' version be enough for an adult suntiger? the version i looked at opened from the front and the top which was screen. do other models open differently? this was the very basic smaller one 12x12x12? i was under the impression it had a 'drawer' for the bottom but guess i was wrong. anyhow. what do you guys think of these? to be had faily cheaply online and i really like the background it comes with. would this version be enough for larger terrestrial species like a l. para or a. geniculta? or too small? thanks alot. if you have any pics to share of yours, please do so.

We sell them at my work (PetCo) but ours are way overpriced (think our smallest 12x12x12 cube is $59.99, compared to a nearby reptile place which has them for $39.99). I like the tanks because they open from the front and top and they have the foam background. You were right though they don't have a pull-out drawer.

I would think it would be fine for an irminia, I actually have a new 2" irminia now and I will eventually move him into one. As an adult I will probably go with the 12x12x18 one, because the height will be useful for the live plants I plan on putting in there. I wouldn't put my irminia in the 12" cube unless he was at least 3.5" though.......

I like these enclosures quite a bit but I would not recommend them for terrestrials. They don't provide enough depth to allow a T to burrow. Even for those terrestrials that normally don't burrow much, I like to provide a deep substrate for two reasons. First, it does allow them the option to burrow if they want. Secondly, and more importantly, it limits the cage height and reduces the risk of injury from a fall. However, for arboreals, Exo-Terra's are really nice enclosures.

I bought one about a week or so ago for my A. seemani. It's pretty nice in that it has easy access and looks much nicer/different than a typical aquarium. I noticed shortly after getting it though that crickets were getting out and I couldn't see where. The cable holes were closed off in the rear and the front doors were locked. I actually put a cricket in just to watch where he went, and noticed he climbed out the back near the sliding pieces that cover the cable holes. I had to put two pieces of styrofoam in that back area to keep the crickets from escaping.

In any case, it's a pretty nice setup if you don't mind spending the extra $. Seems to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity as well.

The old reliable 5 gallon aquarium with screened top is still hard to beat.

Crix can get out of the back top holes. You need to block there escape. If you slide the little hole blocker (for lack of a better name), they escape from where the "blocker" came from originally. Trust me, my wife was finding crix crawling all over,:wall: I pled the fifth. The tanks are a bit pricey but I think they are worth it for arboreals. There isn't enough depth for substrate to enduce burrowing IMO. About 3 inches in front below the doors (12x12x12). You could possibly have it deeper in the back of the tank. For a L. parahybanna, too small, too tall. Give em floor space. My $.02 or less.

I consider this to be one of the best products to come along in some time and have a large number of them in use in my faciity. I am currently remodeling so that all of my extensive arboreal tarantula collection is housed in the 12 x 12 x 18H size, and use the 12" cube size for smaller arboreals. I do not use them for terrestrial tarantulas, but do also use them for geckos. I will post photos at my earliest convenience.

Two tips - First, unless you have some electrical devices ensure that the cord exit slots have the slider moved to close them off to prevent feeder insect escape. I secure them with a small piece of black electrical tape to prevent accidental opening. Second, at the bottom of the foam faux cork back wall insert are slots to allow electrical cords to pass behind the background and out of the aforementioned slots. I recommend blocking these off with pea gravel or tape or whatever. Otherwise feeder insects, especially crickets, will find their way behind the background and die there creating an awful stench.

Cheers, Michael

I have my versicolor pair in the 12x12x18. I love it!! I wish I could get a million more! Its a nice roomy one that allows you to open the doors and clean the poop easily. We know how those doggone avics like to decorate the glass with their poop.

I have a collection of 8 now, I buy a new one every month. I have 12X12X12,and 12X12X18's. When my "T'S get large enough for the 18X18X18 I'll pick a couple of them up.

I like the ease of use, you can clean through the Top and or front, and in setting them up initially, you utilize both top and front also.

I'm setting my Daughter up with a 18X18X18 in a Terrarium fashion with little Frogs for Christmas.

So, who has the best price for these great enclosures. So far, I have picked mine up at PetSmart for arounf $50.00. However, I am sure they can be bought for less.

I believe they are $49.95 at Petco unless you can catch them on sale, Then they are $39.95 for the 12X12X12 $69.96 for the 12X12X18's and $99.95 for the 18X18X18

I found them online for $29.95 $49.95 and $69.95 on E-bay.. But with The shipping and their handling it was $20.00 cheaper to just buy them at Petco..

I know they can be found for Cheaper than Petco has them, But I haven't found it yet.. I sure wish I could..

Cheaper exo terra terrariums?

I'd like to find them on sale somewhere. I wouldn't mind picking another one up. Getting a bunch of the 12x12x12's together would make a pretty nice display room.
