I was thinking I could perhaps use this as a moisture keeper and decoration, but I just wanted to doublecheck that it wont harm my babes in any way.

IMHO,unless you plan on using lighting to keep the moss alive, dont bother. Mine ended up growing for a couple of weeks, and then turned into a moldy, brown mess.we tried this stuff with out frogs even, and had a heck of a time keeping it alive. not worth it IMHO,if you need to add humidity try a pothos plant.

What kind of light do they need?

To kickstart growth, somthting with a color that plants will like. Most LPS,or on line vendors sell lights geared towards plant growth. When I used it with lighting,I had somewhat decent results.Nothing spectacular.I fail to remember exactly what bulb we used.

Did you use sphagnum? That seems to be messier and overly damp.

Lol, I'll wait for someone else to tag along with an opinion then, just to be sure! =)

The exo terra stuff ends up stinkin like rotten eggs most all the time, if you plan on keeping it moist. I work for a pet store so what we use instead of the forrest moss is spagnum moss, or orchid moss... Doesnt stink, and IMO it looks better the the forrest moss.

I use the exo terra moss (the one sold in bricks) in many of my T's setups and I think it works great. I mix it in the substrate of my obligate burrowers to both hold more moisture and because the T's make good use of it for their burrows, particularly the entrances.

Also use it in some of my arboreal slings setups, and eventually I want to glue some to cork bark for decorative purposes. Overall its a good product IMO, and it hasnt affected my T's in any negative way.
