I was thinking I could perhaps use this as a moisture keeper and decoration, but I just wanted to doublecheck that it wont harm my babes in any way.
IMHO,unless you plan on using lighting to keep the moss alive, dont bother. Mine ended up growing for a couple of weeks, and then turned into a moldy, brown mess.we tried this stuff with out frogs even, and had a heck of a time keeping it alive. not worth it IMHO,if you need to add humidity try a pothos plant.I was thinking I could perhaps use this as a moisture keeper and decoration, but I just wanted to doublecheck that it wont harm my babes in any way.
What kind of light do they need?IMHO,unless you plan on using lighting to keep the moss alive, dont bother. To kickstart growth, somthting with a color that plants will like. Most LPS,or on line vendors sell lights geared towards plant growth. When I used it with lighting,I had somewhat decent results.Nothing spectacular.I fail to remember exactly what bulb we used. What kind of light do they need?
Did you use sphagnum? That seems to be messier and overly damp.To kickstart growth, somthting with a color that plants will like. Most LPS,or on line vendors sell lights geared towards plant growth. When I used it with lighting,I had somewhat decent results.Nothing spectacular.I fail to remember exactly what bulb we used.
No.I used some stuff called Frog Moss.Made by Zoo Med or someone.I think I am talking about the wrong product now.Did you use sphagnum? That seems to be messier and overly damp.
Yep,I'm thinking of the wrong moss. But this is the moss that comes in those huuuge blocks. Is this still alive, when you wet it?
The exo terra stuff ends up stinkin like rotten eggs most all the time, if you plan on keeping it moist. I work for a pet store so what we use instead of the forrest moss is spagnum moss, or orchid moss... Doesnt stink, and IMO it looks better the the forrest moss.Lol, I'll wait for someone else to tag along with an opinion then, just to be sure! =)
