I think that "no-sugar" warning is only for mentioned for making it "healthier" for the roaches.
Agar-agar is a gelling agent so by no way sugar might have a negative impact on it since sugar is one of the main ingrentiens in all pastry recipes.
Perhaps sugar makes it goes bad sooner than without sugar??
Anyway this stuff works miracles, so try it anyway! With or without sugar.
P.S.: quite an expensive stuff it is by the way....40 euros per kilo meaning 4 euros per 100 gramms (which is about 12+ tablespoons).
