What are you implying when you said that? The onyl reason why I have the word mantis in my username is because the first pet insect that i had a was a baby chinese mantis. I’ve been abstaining from all exotic mantids for 3 years now; I literally destroyed my entire collection of exotic mantids by crushing each individual mantis and I soaked all of the ootheca I had in alcohol for days before disposing of it. It was disturbing for me and I’m trying my best to stay away from keeping exotic mantids but there’s not that many interesting or easily accessable native species. Please just don’t assume anything and as for @The Mantis Menagerie just because you have a profiel photo of an exotic pseudocreobotra doesn’t necessarily mean that you support them.
I'm sorry you went through this, but it was your choice to destroy the mantids. I stand corrected about people being unconcerned with exotic mantids, this thread is the first time I have been made aware of people disposing of their exotic mantis collections. But it doesn't change the fact that many, many hobbysits continue to keep and sell mantids with no issues, and the same has been true of other illegal exotic insects like phasmids for some time now.

@mantisfan101 @The Mantis Menagerie
I think Salmonsandwich is just trying to ram his point through because he feels he should be able to keep exotics no matter what the laws are, and drags down everyone even remotely keeping something exotic to make a case about why he should be able to keep phasmids because 'everyone is doing it'. Kind of like a kid saying 'if I'M not allowed to keep a car, then THEY aren't allowed to keep a bike.'
Makes no sense, does it? Which is my point :D
Allow me to offer a more accurate analogy:

“Why did you yell at your neighbor for violating the apartment complex’s no-pet rule for having a snake, when you’ve known about your other neighbor’s cat for months?”

I'm no mantid keeper, and don't really have the experience or the desire currently to peruse the mantid section of this forum. However, I have done a lot of work with phasmids, so when the topic pops up it usually grabs my attention. Hence my participation in those/these threads. And many people who want to keep phasmids have no idea they're illegal, eg. the OP of this thread. We absolutely should be discouraging people from keeping illegal pets, and if I ever start to pop into the mantid areas of the forum I'll probably mention as much.
