This is my newest acquisition, Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, I can't seem to find much info on this species "Blue Femur Beauty" is its supposed common name, a very cool looking spider, for a pic see www.birdspiders.com. If anyone has any experience or info on this species please let me know. It may now be in the Brachypelma genus I'm not sure.

Thanks,
Andy

Well, I just got info on this spider. It's adult size is 4-5", it is a fossorial tarantula (living under rocks/logs higher up in the Andes mountain range from Chile to Peru) and the Genus name is still Euathlus (which is not protected under CITES as are the Brachypelma) Raven had all under the Brachypelma genus put under the genus Euathlus but Schmidt resurrected the Brachypelma genus as a legitimate genus seperate from Euathlus, which as far as I know only has this one species (pulcherrimaklassi)

I have one of these in my collection but it is a Green femur pulcherrimaklaasi.

And i must say, its a suprisingly rewarding T. Not the most colourful but she is always out on display, eats like a horse and has a docile temperament.

Overall a good purchase considering i wasn't expecting much. Recommended.
