The Epipen is a .3mg dose of epinephrine. To use the Epipen, remove the protective cap, push into your thigh, and the spring-loaded hypodermic needle will auto-inject the dose. The Epipen is intended for use immediately following envenomation by a medically significant species or a non-medically significant species if you are hypersensitive or allergic to scorpion venom. The Epinephrine causes your adrenaline producing factories to flood the body with adrenaline, preventing anaphylactic shock. The dose is effective immediately, and for approximately 15-30 minutes after injection.

i thought that it was worse to use antivenom, and that it actually kills more than the scorps do, or is that just in the case of C excilicauda?

Hi Eric,

I try to import some antivenom to here and have some contacts in Southern Africa. This antivenom production center will send me antivenom for 60$ for 1 ampul but the shipment cost are verry high :( 240$ for shipment (air) the antivenom must under the 6 Celsius

Dear Pandinus,

That was the reason I put this message into this forum. I hope that there are people who have any experience about the sting of a scorpion and using antivenom.

Androctonus, If you have the antivenom and get stung, will you stop keeping scorpions or buy some more antivenom. I mean, it's pretty expensive.

Is it actually worth using antivenom?, I've heard of nasty side effects caused by anti-venom not to mention the danger of using the wrong anti-venom with the wrong scorpion species. Personally If I was stung I'd get the doctors to make sure I didn't go into anaphylactic shock and then just ride the venom out, anti-venoms are not a magic bullet.
