Ephebopus murinus Caresheet

I am stating this thread in hopes of putting together a caresheet for the E. murinus. I know they are in the same family as the OBT, but differ as they are New Worlds. Looking for substrate depth, temperatures, humidity, and any other proper care tips. Also, I do want a huge question answered. Can less substrate be used to encourage more terrestrial tendencies? I've heard that too be true one before. I do not have this species, but do plan to have it by weeks end. That's why I bring the idea of this caresheet up. Thank you for your input in advance.

:?

I don't really feel right now like trying to look how far up the tree you have to got to connect Ephebopus murinus to Pterinochilus murinus, but they are VASTLY different.

E. murinus likes:

- High humidity
- Lots of substrate to burrow
- Heavily webbed entrance to burrow
- Urticating hairs on pedipalps

P. murinus

- Dry
- Some substrate to burrow, some to line webbing, room to web upwards
- Loads of webbing everywhere
- No urticating hairs

I really wouldn't recommend taking away a burrower's substrate just to see them. Burrowers can be set up in containers with a cover to force them to at least burrow next to the sides. Besides that E. murinus actually tend to spend a good deal of time outside of their burrows. Just take a flash light to it's enclosure at night :)

LOL. Sorry. I was just talking about the Pterinochilus family (chordatus and lugardi species)on a different thread and thought murinus/murinus. LOL. New World vs. Old World. Not even close. I feel like a complete idiot now. :wall: But at least it was just an honest mistake.

It's all good ;) I figured you probably got mixed up somewhere, lol.

They differ alot from Halpols as well. My H lividum sling burrowed straight down within a day. My E murinus likes having something (twice now it's been a hide) to burrow down beside. Refused to burrow, gave it a hide, it burrowed, go figure

Also, myself, and it seems others, have noticed ours settling in better with some horizontal room. Not just containers concentrating on height.

Very underrated species IMHO.

Once again, Let me rephrase something

Incase you read my post this would be a 'wet fossorial'.

How about I make things a bit more clear here for everyone. I'm not looking for a complete "caresheet" I guess. I think I'm more looking at the lines of: How do you take care of your Pterinochilus family pets. I have searched the forums (yes with advanced searches as well), and have failed too come up with a "caresheet". As I stated though, I'm looking more for experiences here. Personal owners sharing their thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

Sorry, I tend to get Genus and Family mixed up at times. But what I'm really going for is personal opinions here. Searching is great. Done plenty of that. However, how does that relate to personal experience from others that have dealt with them hands on?

This is a forum where people come together to discuss their own hands on personal experiences.
Yeah, I already know that. Re-read my last post. That's kinda what I was saying in the first place. I'm saying I thing hands on opinions are better than reading some internet garbage.

/sigh

All the hands on information you want us to put the ribbon on for you is already here in the forums. You need to be the ribbon.

Here's xhexdx's infamous search link. It will help you to be all the ribbon you can be.

Good luck.

I already know how to search. What I'm looking for isn't a search option. You get it yet or no? Looking for peoples experiences. THAT IS ALL.

Here are some people's E. murinus 'experiences'.. that took dang near 25 seconds to find. Wanna bet me on how many more I can find for every species you've asked about?

The info is already on the boards.. why should it be spoonfed to people?

I think what folk may be trying to say is, that they don't particularly want the boards covered in sporadic threads asking about correct husbandry on certain species that you may have or may want to have.

Maybe make one thread titled...

Tym Hollerup's Species Care Sheet Extravaganza....

Something with a nice snappy title like that. :}

Where do you think the people writing on the boards take the stuff they type? From their personal experiences and common knowledge 99% of the time (if they know what they're talkin about). If E.murinus likes it humid with a lot of substrate to burrow, THAT IS ALL, any trustable personal experience couldn't be much different from that.THAT IS ALL.

Whatever. I'm done with this thread. No one seems to get the point of this thread anyway.
You're the one who doesn't get it.

Searching here gives you results that are actual posts by actual people, writing about their actual experiences.

Just like you asked for.
