Emperor In Trouble!!!

I think my scorpion might be dead. But i read up on it and the Emperor has this thing called Relaxed Immobility, where if it absolutly is comfortable with its enviornment it'll do this. I can't see how it could be dead It has plenty of water i feed it about once a week(Pinky mouse/small lizards) the Humidity stays at about 75% to 80% and the temp at 80 degrees F, and I'm not sure whats up with it.. about two days ago it crawled under its log after i put plants in the tank and has been sitting under there sence it wount move like it normally does when i touch it and just today i picked him up cuz he normally throws a fit... and he didnt do anything but pull its claws over its mouth and when i sat it back down it put its legs out beside it and curled its tail up and put it claws back out...


what do i do i think it might be Dying

he may be dieing, that is very possible. but if he is still moving i would try putting him in his water dish, he could just be thirsty. but at this point i would just leave it alone for now and let nature take its place.

He gets fed a large meal weekly and the humidity is up, so I highly doubt it's dehydration. I don't know where you pulled that out from.........:?

1. Stop feeding it vertabrates, switch to crickets or roaches and feed then one per week (Approx, keep in mind that they can go months without food, they just cause their body to use very little effort and as such require little food)

2. Keep the humidity nice and high, watch for mold though

3. Stop holding it and grabbing it, you are stressing it out

4. If it is underneath its hide, leave it alone, if it dies you'll figure it out because it will start to stink

5. Most scorpions lay their tails flat on the ground when coming close to death, this sounds like an obese, stressed out scorpion, just leave it be and don't bother it for quite some time.

ive only had it for about a month and its still an infant only about 2 inches long...its still pretty skinny it never eats the lizard or mouse fullyit'll take a leg or two and a tail but not really more than that. when i tried to feed it crickets itseemed almost offended and hid its self.

i alnot youch him about twice a month when i change his tank out i keep a mixture of moss, Mulch(humidity regulatory) and potting soil...he has two dishes because i have a really big tank and when i do feed him i usually just leave the mouse in there and let him take his time with it...i take it out about friday(i feed it on tuesday) and wait till about thrusday the next week and so on

You leave a dead mouse in there for 4 days? That's disgusting.

Stick with crickets/roaches and your scorp will be much better off for it.

if he only eats parts of the legs or tail why even waste your money buying them? Crickets are like 9 cents each and much better for your scorp.

Also, how big is your tank? If it is to big for your scorp you are going to have to prekill food and set it in front of him, or hold a live cricket with some tongs and put it in front of his face. Otherwise he will never find it.

I agree, you shouldn't really be feeding your scorp mice or lizards, especialy if it only eats a tiny little bit.

crickets and roaches will do fine.

I agree with you all, the scorp is too young to eat those big preys. You should give him either something as big as him or smaller, never bigger as he could get fat, and it could even get stressed of too much food.

the mice are about a cm to 3 cm in length and the lizards are only every now and then when i can get one from outside and sterilize it...


the cage is a 20 gallon but most of it is covered with plants and stuff for him to hid in and burrow under...

i took it to the pet shop where i orderd it from, and they said its prolly getting ready to molt so their keeping it there for a few days till they can be sure and if it dies in their care then they'll get me a new one^_^

Good point. Unless that's a real knowledgeable pet shop, they'll probably put it in an environment not conducive to a good molt (too dry etc). Scorps can die if the conditions are not right for a molt.

You let it kill a whole mouse just to eat a little nibble? Where the royal fawk did you even hear about feeding them mice? youtube?

Get it on roaches or crickets and stop torturing small mammals that are only a few chromosomes off from humans.
