My corn mum is currently hunting for a good egg laying spot. Hopefully she'll find the box with moist vermiculite helpful!

Anybody else here on the boards who currently is expecting reptile eggs?

Only in a very roundabout way. I'm WAITING on reptile eggs. I have a local breeder that I will be getting a baby lavender ghost corn snake from, as soon as it hatches and she makes sure they are eating well and healthy. Does that count?

I am waiting on my female Argentine boa to give birth. She is getting really thick and is starting to lay on her side and do the weird half messy coil.

When I saw this thread's title I thought to myself "Shouldn't baby announcements go in the Watering Hole?" :?

Our female WC fence lizard just dropped a bunch of eggs that look unviable(?). They resemble whitish-yellow raisins and are scattered about on top of the substrate. Pictures of other lizard eggs I've seen are not dessicated like this and are not yellowish.

She is now working hard at seducing the male, but he seems a bit inept.

My Blue Beauty should be laying any day now, as she just went through her pre-lay shed. My Taiwan is bred, but it's too early to tell if it "took"; ditto for my Eastern Coachwhip. I don't have any female Corns or NA Rats at this time, though, and I'm still looking for a mate for my 7' male Northern Pine.

Hehe.. again good luck all! :)

Here at my place we seem to have entered stage two (and hopefully any time now stage three): My corn has finally (after 4 days) realized what that silly box with moist vermiculite is good for: For laying in it!

I only hope she remembers that when she starts to get her contractions, afterall, it's the only moist place in the tank. Last time she prefered dropping the eggs right on the bonedry pine shavings and I had to go there every half hour to spray on them so they wouldn't dry up until she was done. She was also completely coiled arround them so I couldn't remove them either! But whatever the eggs went through there, they all hatched later on!

Now it's happening. She's currently laying her eggs. As in true corn fashion she didn't lay them in the vermiculite box but under it :wall: . Now I'm torn between picking up the eggs while she's laying them or to spray them occasionally and pick them up in a lump when they're all layed. Most of all I don't wanna disturb her and since she can be a bit snappy I don't know if it could bother her so much that she'd get agitated as I pick up egg after egg, so I might just let them stay til she's done.

I got 20 eggs now in my incubator, some of them very large in comparison to last year. Must have been quite hard for the poor corn but I'm hoping it's good for the babies. Maybe it's 21, but I doubt that the big bulk in her tail is anything other than a swelling after all the egg laying. She had it last year too.

All in all... -> :) :) :)

waiting

i know this has not much to do with snakes but it does have to do with waiting on breeding...saved a sun tiger male today from being eaten by a female with an eggsack that just recently abandoned it..so sun tiger babys comming soon from OLD World Spiders....Also Pink Toe slings are on there way...both egg sacks are looking very promising! cant wait to see them hatch! it will be a sight to see im sure

The wait is over! Well, partially over. I have my first two gecko hatchlings of the year. The first one is a huge het baby Normal x Blizzard. This female and male combination produce some huge eggs. Their babies hatch out nice and fat. The second hatchling of the year is a double het from an Albino Tremper x Blizzard. I should have some Blizzard babies and some Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tails in the next few weeks. I can hardly wait to see those!

Below is a photo of the double het Albino x Blizzard. She wasn't happy to see me so I just snapped a quick photo.

Next up is the gecko incubator.

Enjoy! :)
