I love dogs, ALL dogs. However, as a mail carrier I have to be aware of any and all dogs when I have packages to deliver. I know which dogs will try to take a chunk out of me and which ones would rather lick me to death. I've got 2 chihuahas, an ancient Cocker, a bunch of mutts, 5 Saint Bernards, a Landseer, and a Dogue de Bordeaux pup, a crapload of Goldens and a bunch of others I can't even think of right now. Out of all these dogs, you know which ones I'm most wary of? The Chihuahas and the Cocker. The owner of the Cocker told me straight out that it's a biter, and one of the Chihuahas regularly tries to take pieces off of my truck.

Read the 2nd story in THIS LINK . It's people like this that shouldn't be allowed to have pets. Rotties are awesome dogs, but I know there's a ton of people out there who have read this and just chalked it up to the breed and not the owner.

I like pit bulls. I've only been in contact with one, but he's a sweetheart.

Most of the time. Even after knowing the dog for years its still scary as hell to walk into the house without being escorted by the owner, or when she's BEHIND me (IE i'm the first one in the door) and be confronted by a 150 pound guard dog barking with about the same tone that a rattlesnake rattles.

The dog is superbly trained and is fun to play with most of the time, but I've seen a "demo" of what happens when the owner starts making any cry of distress or gets a command from her --the dog starts eyeing the nearest "non-family" person with murder in its eyes. I'm not sure what its trigger to attack is but if it ever did so it would NOT be pretty.
