So my gf got me this 'crystal clear plastic' shoe box to use as a possible display enclosure. Only thing is, the lid comes off very easily. Does anyone know of any easy way to make the lid more secure? I'd really like to try to make it into something I could use as it was pretty cheap and it would make a great display enclosure after some small adjustments.

Also, do you think it would hold up to having holes drilled into it? I know acrylic can be drilled into, but can plastic as well?
Sit a nice polished stone on top lol

I have a few of those plastic boxes with loosely fitting lids and was able to secure them by drilling holes horizontally through the lid and into the base and placing those bolts you use for fastening components inside a PC, like the hard drives. They seem to be the perfect size: unobtrusive but lock all the way through. Will upload a photo when I get a chance.

Here it is. I have one bolt at each corner. They go in and out easily and keep it completely secure - so long as you shut it correctly!

That's right, I once did not push the bolt in fully before closing the lid, and the bolt in fact stopped the lid from closing fully and I didn't notice. That centipede was never found.

Other than that, great solution :D

Put a thin rubber list aroud the edges of the enclousure if it is a type that the lid "goes outside" the rim. This makes the lid sit tight
