Eastern Giant Millipede?

I was looking through the website for swift inverts and saw what they called Eastern Giant Millipede(Narceus americanus). Does anyone here keep these? If so how many would you say would be a comfortable number for a ten gallon tank? Any other care tips would be appreciated, specifically humidity and temp requirements. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

Hi, not much different then other millipedes. They will only get maybe 5" so i think a good # of them could be kept in in a 10 gallon tank. Mine love oak leaves and rotten wood. They will eat plenty of veggies and cucumbers are eaten up fast.

So 4 or 5 could be easily housed in ten gallon then?

I have over 50 of varying sizes in a 5 gal tub. They have lived in there for about a year and a half and seem more than fine (lots of babies). I keep them at 75F.

And make sure to have plenty of substrate because they like to burrow.

4 or 5 would have plenty of room.

They're great little pedes. Not too large in size, but nice and hearty. I've got a bunch of juveniles and keep them mixed with other millis. I've got some in a tank with African sorts, and others in with domestic desert types, and they seem to get along fine. Even full grown, I would think you could comfortably keep at least 10-15 in a 10-gallon aquarium, and still have plenty of space. In my experience, the narcius tend to stick close together, and you'll often find them huddled together.

It's tough to say from a pic but the colors on that one look like gordanus not americanus

the millis, i have ,i collected locally and so i'll venture a guess as for them being that kind, but i have about 3 in a quart jar full of moist peat. i feed diced squash and apple. replacing when i gets moldy. mine are slate gray/black and pink pin striped

Doesn't look like a Nareus Americanus to me. Narc's are predominantly grey, with slim orange bands. It could be Narcius Gordanus...but I've only seem them in images, so I'm not sure. That's the only other American pet variety it comes close to. Perhaps its one of the Puerto Rican scrub varieties?
