Ok I bought earthworms for my Ts' but they seem to be terrified of them and freak out. They have no problem eating crickets but they need food variety so was told they will eat earthworms but they skirt away. Anyone know why? They need a variety of foods and not just cricks. Please help.

What species T and are they regular earthworms/nightcrawlers etc? Not sure if earthworms are purged before they are sold. Feeding wild caught earthworms to a tarantula is risky.

Ts will do fine on a diet of just crickets. You could also try feeding superworms or mealworms, just make sure you crush their heads first. Sometimes when tarantulas are fed a certain type of feeder for a long time they may get habituated to it and will be hesitant to eat anything else.

They are curly hair and mexi red knee. They are nightcrawlers that I purchased at the pet store. They just freaked out and ran away from them when I used my things to give it to them.

Use crickets for fussy feeding response spiders. The rest feed loaded roaches. Am I biased? Maybe. Am I correct? yes

Where did you get all this information from by chance? That they need variety, or feeding pinkies?

Variety is not necessary. Save the worms for fishin'. 🙂
I was just thinking this, it’s your spiders telling you to go fishing.

Anyone feed there live pinkie mice?
People feed pinky mice and small lizards, but there’s no reason to. It’s not any better for the tarantula. I don’t even feed my snakes live. It’s needlessly risky for your pet and causes a vertebrate to suffer for no reason. Plus it will leave a nasty mess.

There's your problem. Don't use your tongs or tweezers to feed your tarantulas. You're the one probably scaring them, not the earthworms.

I’d rather people try to just feed insects. I would rather not think or see anyone feeding a baby mouse to a t just because they can. It’s messed up enough feeding frozen. I’m ok with people feeding snakes it but that’s their diet, not a thing to test what they will eat.

They flash freeze the mice. It's pretty humane.

Personally I wouldn't feed worms. I'm actually surprised the pet shop has them. Theoretically the should be safe if they're from a pet store, but I've never heard of it before so I wouldn't risk it. They could just buy from the same source as tackle/bait shops, which may have some contaminants - you never know with stuff that isn't meant for pets.

If you want variety get roaches. They're more nutritious anyway.

No. Needless cruelty to the animal, big risk to your tarantula, and just unnecessary. The only people that do this are uneducated keepers and people trying to be sensational. Not to mention the bolus from a vertibrate, especially a mammal, would be downright disgusting.

I wish my guy would eat frozen. I’ve tried everything. Absolutely refuses. It’s annoying and inconvenient going to get live feeders. I asked the sellers, and he was raised on live.

That’s frustrating. What kind of snake? There are tips and tricks to get it to eat frozen
