Dynastes grantii

Male Dynastes grantii. Female would not stay still for a picture. She's in a breeding tank now with the male but isn't showing any interest in feeding. I put her face in beetle jelly but she just runs back and hides under the sphagnum moss. Since they're wild caught, do you think she already paired in the wild and is ready to lay eggs?

Nice! In addition to the sphagnum, what else are you using for substrate?

Some coconut husk and sphagnum moss for the male. For the female to lay eggs I provided some potting soil. I collected some rotting wood the past few days for larvae (that is, if I get any).

The females have almost always mated if you she's wild caught. I would mix some of the rotting wood in with the female's sub because I think they won't oviposit if the soil isn't right. For her food, just leave it against the side of her container. When she's hungry, she'll find it. Where did you get them?

These females aren't that picky as other rhino beetles would be when laying eggs. And bought them from some dude who caught them in Arizona.
