Dwarf White Isopods: Potentially harmful to Centipedes?

Hi all, a little while back I purchased some Dwarf White Isopods as cage cleaners in some of my moisture-dependent invert enclosures. One of these enclosures was/is my Rhysida longipes (African Long-Tail Centipede) enclosure. I’ve just read on AB that some Isopods could possibly eat at a molting centipede. Is this true for the White Dwarfs, and if so, should I remove the Isopods from the pede’s enclosure? Thx

I think dwarf whites are one of the species that get along with most all other inverts. Those and the dwarf purples.

I've heard that they can still harm a pede though it is much less likely than other isopods, and i have not witnessed or experienced issues using them myself, but i have since switch to only springtails for peace of mind.

Never had an issue with either species. Tons of cages with both species plus silver temperate springtails. None of my customers has brought any negative feedback on them also. Now the larger species that is a different matter. I have witnessed a Ga. native large grey isopod/rolypoly eat a froglets pumilio fresh out of the bromeliad. Unfortunately I witnessed this after it was too late to save the frog.

Dwarf whites will be fine....others like Porcellio scaber do like their protein and have been known to completely devour small animals that they are sharing an enclosure with so I would likely stay away from those

Ok, good to know! I’ll most likely just leave the isopods in the enclosure as I think the pede will be fine, and the pede only cost me 10 dollars, so it wouldn’t be a huge blow if something did happen to the pede. Thx for the input :)

Don’t plan on using anything but the dwarf whites and springtails, but good to know anyways! Thx :)

Glad to see that dwarf whites are cool. I have a colony growing currently that I'd like to use for future pede purchases!

Good luck with your S. viridis!
Where are you planning to get one? (It's okay if you don't know yet)
Yea I’m not sure where I’m going to get one yet, but I was thinking I may get one from Mike’s House of a Thousand Legs, as he may have a few left. I may also try Overboard Aquatics, as they have a S. gigantea “robusta” for sale, and NERD has some “White Legs” gigantea for sale as well. If all else fails, I may ask someone to import one from Germany for me. :)
