ive really started to love the dwarf species and recently acquired a D. pentaloris and a pumpkin patch. I was curious if there are any well know dwarf arboreal species. looking to expand my dwarf collection. thanks!

Hi
Not really dwarf but Tapinauchenius sp maxes out at around 4 inch.
They are very very fast tho.
If you like your small tarantulas have a look at:
Theraphosinae sp panama
Neischnocolus panamanus (Ami sp Panama)
Pseudhapalopus sp colombia
Cyriocosmus (elegance, leetzi, ritae)
Neoholothele incei (Normal and Gold form)
Holothele longipes (Very fast)
Heterothele villosella

I don't keep a lot of arboreals but Avicularia minatrix is a *small* species, not technically a dwarf. Typhochlaena seladonia is well knowna dwarf arboreal, but spendy and afaik technically not legal to sell, though some vendors keep selling them.

Neischnocolus panamanus (Ami sp Panama)
They are not the same species. I don't know how this misinformation started, but Neischnocolus sp. Panama is a completely different spider and is still undescribed. It is NOT Neischnocolus panamanus... it's just not the same spider. We had this conversation over on the BTS FB group too. They're completely different spiders.
Here is the link to the scientific paper showing a completely different spider.

Hi
Thanks very much.
Mine were sold to me as Ami but there are few vendors in Europe that sell them as Neischnocolus(thespidershop.co.uk being one of them)
Tbh its a shambles with a lot of species.
Regards Konstantin

It's not a shambles, it's just a genus change. It happens regularly as we learn more about a species and more are described. Some vendors continue to list with the old name. It happens.

I've never heard N. sp Panama referred to as Neischnocolus panamanus before your post, tbh.

All Ami species are now Neischnocolus. It isn't the genus that is incorrect, it's the species.
Ami sp. Panama is now Neischnocolus sp. Panama and is still undescribed.
Ami baldesi is now Neischnocolus panamanus.
Please see page 152 of the link I provided to see the timeline of naming convention and a photograph.

If you go on thespidershop.co.uk site the pic is clearly Ami sp Panama but is listed as Neischnocolus panamanus.
Them being a solid tarantula vendor you just assume they know better.
Yes, you would think so, but that is very rarely the case. Now I know why I have been seeing this so much lately, if a major UK/EU dealer has them misidentified it is going to catch on.

The Typhochlaena genus has what you want. Although likely not in the price range you want..

A minatrix is affordable- semi dwarf

I’ve seen seladonia in person- that’s a dwarf IMO.
