May seem like a dumb question. However, is it better to feed dry or wet dog food diet to a Dubia roach colony? Are their better diets out there. Chime in and let me know what ya think and what you use. Thanks!!!

I never found it necessary but when I had a colony I threw in a few dried nondyed cat and or dog kibbles here and there once in a while. It never hurt my Ts second handedly and they (roaches) all ate it like candy. I never tried moist though, but I mainly fed them a clean leftover veggie diet with a main course of washed baby carrots which works like a charm.

Also not to sound harsh at all but there is another section for other invertebrates here (which your topic applies) ;)

I throw in dry dog food. Wet dog food can get really messy and it's more likely to attract flies and other stuff you probably don't want.

My roaches have never cared about dog or fish food, so I just stick with fruits and veggies - oranges, apples, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, etc.

I give mine fresh fruits/veggies and occasional dry dog or cat food. They love it (as do my isopods) but I wouldn't want to give them the wet kind. It would get gross and stinky pretty quickly - and is a fabulous breeding ground for flies/maggots.

My Dubias also only eat fruits vegetables and grain. I give them wheat bran or stale bread from time to time, but they are usually on potatoes, greens, oranges, carrots, apples, (They hate bananas and won't touch them). Tried giving them dog kibble some time ago - just one and it remained inside for like 2 weeks. They can eat bread, even if it's dry, almost instantly. Wheat bran is supposed to have around 16% protein content which is by far the richest source of protein I give them (which they eat). They are most likely not breeding like they could if they had more, but they seem to do OK. They are also healthy and the box is dry and doesn't stink. I was thinking about giving them a small source of protein rich food just to see if they like softer food better. For example a tiny little bit of meat around the bone. Cooked ofcourse. I think they wouldn't even touch it since they are vegan roaches.

Fruits and veggies should be your staple. Can also use Mazuri Roach Chow, it's been super popular with the roach species I've tried it with.
