I've not seen my adult jump but this juvenile I found today can, (they are definitely the same species) soooo what's up with that?

Lots of gnaphosidae are very athletic, they have to be, as many specialize in hunting other spiders :) Drassodes is very jumpy, they like to hop and climb up and pounce on orb weavers :)

Thanks :) Also what sort of lifespan do they have (specifically a female), I'm guessing a year or less but I didn't know if they lived longer in captivity? My female is full sized so if they don't live longer in captivity I'm guessing she's only got a month or less to live as she's already had spiderlings :(

gnaphosids have a decent lifespan. 3 years with good care, possibly more.
