I agree, Gail! I did a school presentation last week, and I was surprised how enthusiastic the kids were about the juvenile Avic I brought. "Wow!" "Cool!" etc.

Cute! Mine has pinkish legs, the striped abdomen, and the blue tips. Of course, it holes itself up in its funnel-hammock web.

Minatrix are in the pet trade (albeit uncommon). The post that you refer to was saying get the A. minatrix because it looked similar to the not even in the pet trade, not even named Avicularia species that was in the picture.

I've got 2 A versicolor slings, 2 A avicularia slings, and 2 A braunshauseni slings...they are all the cutest things!
This genus is really really a MUST HAVE if you have none!
