Was bitten by one smaller species (possibly Triatoma rubrofasciata??), a common domestic species (in Hong Kong). It hurts like hell for such a small insect. Only slightly less painful than a hornet sting. So I wonder how a bite from a Platymeris 3 times bigger would feel.

I was just bitten myself and hurt like hell. burning sensation, i treated it with meat tenderizer, baking soda, vinegar , and afterward some old guy at the party made me a poultice of tobacco and beer. lol ....however noone there knew what the heck it was, i found a pic i posted on the arachnoboard gallery here , i think its an immature assassin, wheel bug , and from what i can get from other pple its not dangerous , however i still wonder about the chagas disease and if its just the conense that gives it or this one too, there were reports of chagas in CA , FL ,SC .......rare, but it doesnt hurt to be cautious..I live in NC , just moved here so never seen this assassin before hand , so you can imagine just how worried i was.........anyone have any info about my posted pic , id be interested .
