I want to know if these bites are painful, for dangerous??? I mean do they hurt a whole bunch, or do you need to go to the hospital or anything like that?????
I think hospitialisation is unlikely, just a lot of pain. Of course, pain is all relative, some people might shrug it off, whilst some might be crying and rolling around on the floor. With any venom there is a chance of an alergic reaction in the person being bitten, causing anaphalatic shock and some very serious symptoms. Generally though chances of this are rare, so i would have thought a normal bite could be treated with some antihistamines and some sting spray, or doing nothing and waiting for the pain to go away. I wouldn;t let this put you off keeping them, if you keep your hands away from them and keep them in a suitable enclosure, there is a zero percent chance of being bitten.
One day I was sitting on my couch, it was a hot summers day [no this is not a novel!] Anyway watchign tv minding my own buisness and we had a few assassins around here [Ontario canada small black with red dots] anyway I musta sat on this poor fella as it bit me just between my Pants and my shirt, it felt sorta like a burn for a bit and devoloped into what I can only discribe as a very pussy zit, nothing to big jsut really pussy, thats the only result from the bit and unfortunetly the creature died from the result of my weight shifting on him when I jumped. Overall I'd say less then a bee sting but I dont think the kind that bit me is anything liek the ones that are forsale in the pettrade.
He's not talking about Platymeris.
Kind of like when you ask how to feed rhino grubs and someone answers by telling you how their mantis eats a lot. I love message boards.
I and people I know directly have been bitten by Platymeris. It is an entire world of pain. Oddly, if they squirt poison in your eye it just stings a bit.
My daughters little girl was bit by one on the neck. It kind of looked like a mild Recluse bite. There was a hole in the middle with pus and it was swollen and purple.
It took forever to heal and she still has a swollen lymph node directly beneath the bite.
She was laying in the grass watching insects. It climbed onto her neck and when she reached to brush it off it bit her. She is 4.
It was a painful bite. She was on antibiotics for the infection.
I wouldn't want to get bit by one.
It didn't cause her to be afraid of bugs and such.
Her favorite is her pet hissing cockroaches.
We are trying to teach her to be cautious as not all insects are friendly.
