Hello,

What is difference between the Acanthoscuria Theraphosides (Brazilian Giant Black & White) and the Acanthoscuria Geniculata (Brazilian Giant White Knee)?

When I Google images, look at breeder sites, etc... nothing seems consistent. For the most part, they all look the same.

Thanks!

Try to search first...
In short:
- "hobby theraphosoides" = what was labeled as theraphosoides by sellers in past, is in fact geniculata
- true theraphosoides looks much different and is very rare to non-existent in hobby

Pretty sure these were formerly known as brocklhursti and are now a junior synonym of geniculata

Thanks for the response!

From what I'm understanding, they are both the same T, named differently?

" - "hobby theraphosoides" = what was labeled as theraphosoides by sellers in past, is in fact geniculata "

I'm new in the hobby and I've seen breeders offer both of these T's as different
selections, so this is why I asked.

Thanks.

Yes.

Theraphosides, theraphosoides and brocklehursti are a messed up names that some breeders used to design a color form of the geniculata, aka narrow band geniculata.

In reality the theraphosides/brocklehursti (synonyms) it's a dark/brownish Acanthoscurria with differs completely from the color scheme of the geniculata.
