diatomaceous earth(mite control??)
Just a thought...diatomaceous earth..an extremely fine powder made from crushed/pulverised skeletons of crustaceans(minute planktons, algaes) used in pest control of plants and vegetables. It literally slices up small critters such as aphids, mites as they walk across it...yet you take some rub it between your fingers and it does nothing.Extremely lethal to small pests and yet is TOTALLY ORGANIC.I've been using it for years in my vegetable garden and it's extremely effective.Only drawback is it's washed off everytime it rains or you water your plants. Now I wonder how it would be to maybe sprinkle a bit on a mite infested T or add it to your substrate as a prevention control???.I don't have any mites(fingers kept crossed) or I would experiment.May be worth a try for someone who has an out of control mite problem as a last resort....Diatomaceous earth is usually readily available in any garden nursery centre and is sometimes found in aquarium sections of petstores. It's also used in filtering aquarium water and ridding aquarium water of parasites.I've used it also on my aquariums with absolutely no ill effects to fish at all.Any thoughts????....peace..
